Hey guys.

well i have a psp slim with version 3.60 now all i want to do is put an emulator on it and play some old games...ive tried a number of things, no pandora battery, is that a must?...nothing seems to work im geting corrupt data or could not run the game and such....i have the emulator rdy to go but wont work on psp...need lower ver of FW maybe ???

what is the easiest way to get emulators that work on a psp slim 3.60

you need custom firmware
meaning you need to downgrade to 1.50
then goto CFW
you'll need a pandora's battery

Pandora for the slim is a must unfortunatly.

Also- a PSP Slim is not compatable with any firmware below 3.60 (unless you use Time Machine) - trying to istll such a firmware would result in a (possible) unfixable brick.

Problem is - without a PSP that is already homebrew unabled; it is very difficult to create a pandora battery and "jigstick" memory stick. It is possiblee, but softmodding the battery has to be done.

There are people all over this forum who will gladly help you out in installing custom firmware using one of their pandora batteries.

They'll likely find you. If not, try asking your friends or relatives if they have a psp w/ a CFW.

Also, the battery and memory stick are available via ebay.

When it gets to the optional step, just upgrade to 3.71-4, instead of 3.71-3. Buy a Pandora's Battery, don't waste time modding one.

Pandora's Battery comes in two parts

1. A regular PSP battery that has had its serial number changed to all 1's.
When the PSP boots it checks the serial number of the battery.
If it detects a battery with all 1's it goes into service mode and attempts to boot some files from a specially formated memory stick.
The Battery can technically still be used as normal if you further modify the memory stick,
otherwise it will need to have its serial number restored if you want to use it as normal again.
The same application that can convert the serial can restore it as well.

The Battery can be difficult to aquire.
a. The Battery can be created on a modified PSP that can run the application that changes the serial number
b. The Battery can be hard modded by snipping a few pins on the batteries eeprom that disables the serial number.
Suffice to say this is much harder to reverse and can permanently damage the battery if you make a mistake.
c. You can also buy a battery from Datel that is specially made only for this purpose

2. A specially created memory stick
You can still use the memory stick as normal after its been formatted.
Making the memory stick is easy with an application like this:
Pandora CMD 150 371 380 (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=99709)
Once created the memory card has the ability to directly flash a PHAT PSP to either 150, [371 or 380]
The Slim PSP can only be flashed to 371 and 380 with this application.
This memory card can be created using a PC and PC media card reader for the Memory Stick

Despertar del Cementerio 5 (http://www.dark-alex.org/) can be used to flash Slim and Phat PSP's to 3.90M33-3 or retail 3.90.
It does not require any special formating of the PSP's Memory Stick.
This can only be installed to a Memory Stick from a modified PSP.

Its an all in one Pandora memory stick capable of installing all custom firmwares and retail firmwares from 3.71 to 3.90
I suggest using NAND dumps to be able to flash back to any firmware you choose with out loosing any customizations

Time Machine is something special for a SLIM PSP
It is a special Modification of the "pandora" memory card that allows any PSP to boot firmware right off the memory card.

What makes Pandora so special?
1. It has the ability to un-brick almost any PSP.
2. Flash any PHAT PSP to 1.5, 3.71M33, 3.80M33 or 3.90M33-3
Remember that SLIM PSP's can only be flashed with 3.71M33, 3.80M33 or 3.90M33-3 using DC5
3. Make full "NAND" dumps of your PSP
This makes it possible to quickly return to any PSP firmware version you have made a dump / backup of.
A NAND refers to the chip that contains firmware or operating system of your PSP.

So it really makes sense to get one.
Use it, cherish it.

so once i get the pandora memory card and pandora battery made i put the CFW on it...but i thought psp slim is not compatable with any CFW lower then 3.60 o_o

also, can i use a slim battery to make a pandora battery without a homebrew psp('taking apart battery) ?

My undersanding is that 3.71 and 3.80 are supported on the NAND.
Using Pandora and Time Machine to boot CFW from the memory stick is a whole other world.

Is a Slim battery hard mod possible? -Yes
Do you want to hard mod a slim battery?

I recommend against a hard mod
Unless you really like to mod... install a switch, just dont clip...
Buy a Datel Battery or have someone with a modded PSP make you a softmodded Pandora.
It really is worth the time and money to have a Pandora battery always available.
