View Full Version : Metal Gear Online beta on UK PS Store

Sony has updated its fancy new PlayStation Store with, among other things, the client for the Metal Gear Online open beta.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to play the 741MB beta (which is already out in North America and Japan) until next Monday, April 21 - but we're sure it'll be a lot less fun to download it on the day.

Joining the MGO beta is the long-awaited Lair Deadly Dragons Pack, which gets replaces the rubbish SixAxis controls with the option to use traditional analogue sticks.

The latest Warhawk expansion, Operation Broken Mirror is also up for download for the princely sum of £3.99.

This things a joke...

After downloading the actual demo, it asked to update to version 1.01 either via P2P or html.

Html failed every single time, and P2P seemed like it was going to work, then conked out with a network error after a couple of hours. My connection is sublime, it is ridiculous.

Anyway, it seems like a Beta all right, hope they get their act together...

Updated quickly for me using P2P.
Whether it will be possible to obtain a Konami ID before Monday is the real issu

Got my Beta code today from their website. Konami uses the same site to download and register though, so I won't be able to get a game ID until things settle down :(

Weren't they cracking down on the beta codes that were obtained online?

No, they have a separate site for US where they hand out codes at random.

the australia and nz store dont need a beta code, you just download, then you have to make the konami ID

Damn update took a while on P2P, and the konami ID website keeps flushing out errors.

Hint: In Firefox - enter your info, then open a new tab and go through the steps again. Once your back at the information screen, switch back to the other tab and click submit. On the next page quickly click confirm without waiting for the page to load.

This isn't exactly the greatest start...you download 700+ megs of game to find that 1.01 is available, just so you can download the same amount again! Why didn't they just put the 1.01 on the PSN?
And what's with this terrible signing up step? Why didn't they lay on more bandwidth for this?!

The install says it's 1.5GB, therefor 1.01 is actually part of the entire download process.

No you still need to get one.

But you dont need to order anything, its just free off the website.

(The website is playing up old school style though, so i cant get mine)

Even with the ID, you can't log in the MGO beta because it won't connect.
Konami really need to fix everything ASAP.

Konami really need to fix everything ASAP.

It won't connect because the beta hasn't started yet, so the server isn't online.

Yep, I got both of my IDs on Thursday, the site confused me too, just make sure to read everything that they're saying on it. Or, if you have MSN or something, I could sign you up for it there.
