Remember those universal Office apps (http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/22/microsoft-office-2016-arrives-this-year/) Microsoft spent some time demoing a couple weeks back (http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/21/windows-10-makes-microsofts-dream-of-universal-apps-come-true/)? Well, as of today, a trio of them are available as part of the Windows 10 Technical Preview (http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/23/windows-10-technical-preview-cortana-continuum/). The three workhorses -- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -- can be accessed on desktops, laptops and tablets running the preview version of Redmond'supcoming operating system (http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/21/windows-10-hands-on/), and in the weeks to come, phones will be able to join in. If you'll recall, the so-called universal apps are designed to wrangle touch gestures and properly equip mobile devices, insuring a consistent experience (http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/21/windows-10-design/) across your Windows-driven gadget arsenal. If you're itchin' to give 'em a go, you can request access right here (https://insider.windows.com/).
