Mat Brady has put together a Mockup of the PSP dubbed PSP2 with what seems to be ideas stolen from the Iphone and a keyboard too and it looks killer

Ultimate would have 4 shoulder buttons, and instead of a keyboard on the bottom half, another touch screen. The top half needs to be able to spin around to have the camera point away. Or just put the camera somewhere else.

A lot of FN whiners in here. This is by far the best PSP2 mock up. If you do't agree, show me something better. If you can, that is. As far as the iphone xmb....come on now. You know you can change it. Dual analouges.... you've been bitchin for it...Done. The camera... switch from the top to the bottom, with a swivel mechanism, that turns 180* from front to back..simple solution.

it has everything that everyone wants it to have INCLUDING a camera placed properly for video conferencing.. TOuchscreen: done, keyboard: done, dual analogs: done.


I wish the PSP looked and operated like that.


I saw a sliding design that looked REALLY REALLY cool.. this is almost as good as that one.

for a concept thats really ****ing good, i like the positions of the start and select buttons, really clever. and obviously we can assume there will be L2 and R2 buttons. possibly could be 'flicking' the shoulder buttons towards the front or the back of the console, creating 2 buttons on each side. And i guess at the same time the small symbols next to the analog nubs are indicating L3 and R3. And c'mon people, surely the answer to the camera prob would be to have one on the front and... oh wait for it..... one on the back too.(****ing morons)

The one shown by the master (Page 2) has been around a while and i also really like that too.

only thing i dont understand why you did, was to use the iphone os. why didnt you just phtshp the xmb in there? as im sure sony are going to continue with that as they've spent so much time on it, aswell as intergrating it into the ps3. Your phtshp skills are v.good btw. And I would defo buy 1.

PS. The only thing I would change would be the positioning of the analog nubs. I think they would be much better above the d-pad and buttons. because you can rest your hand better on the console, and i always find my thumb goes numb when playing for too long. I do have big gorilla hands tho.

I don't see the point in putting a keyboard on a handheld console a touchscreen is enough and a sliding screen will quickly break but it's always good to see professional quality modifications sony can get ideas for the psp2 when they make it

Well, I think we can all agree that the next psp will probably include mobile phone functionality and be smaller than it is now. This is just plain non practical.

Well - not to be an ass but this will most likely never see the light of day, nice looking concept, but at the same time - it's highly impractical and leaves too much room for breakage - looks very breakable. Maybe if the screen flipped open instead of slid I would then say it might be doable. At least then there would be even more room for keyboard keys and protect the screen when not in use.

Thats perfect, if only the camera could swivel, forward for video chat and backwards for pictures, plus the iphone icons would lead to some copyright problems but Im sure there could be some sony specific icons to replace them with

keyboard is a yes and a no, it depends on how you use it

personally, if i was going to use this for work or something that involves typing and look at the screen at the same time, it would be useful

but the keyboard is a great idea to add more functionality to a psp, and it offers the most buttons so if you run an emulator you wont have to worry about a control scheme
