After blogging yesterday’s big Nintendo event in NYC, we wandered down 5th Avenue and into one of those electronics-stores-cum-tourist-traps that no self-respecting game or gadget freak would ever enter. Call it morbid curiousity.
Horrors awaited us inside. We managed to snap a few photos of the insane markups on common games before they kicked us out of there. It’s not just that the prices are nuts, it’s that the numbers for the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) cannot be true. It’s dishonest retailing at its finest.
Here are a few sample prices from the store’s game selection. The first number is the so-called MSRP and the second figure is the price the store is charging.
