Following a few weeks in second place behind Nintendo's latest Wii million seller, Mario Kart, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G rubber banded this week back into first place. Media Create reports sales of 53,248 units for the monster PSP hit, which has now crossed the two million mark.

Mario Kart came in at second for the week spanning May 12 to May 18, with 41,739 units sold.

The chart wasn't all old titles, though. Marvelous Entertainment's Luminous Arc 2 Will for the DS placed third in its debut week with 40,753 units. This is a big leap over the original, which sold 26,000 in its first week in February 2007. Below it was Bleach Heat the Soul 5, the latest PSP fighter based off the popular Bleach anime. It sold 39,403 units in its first week.

Following these games, Wii Fit came in at fifth with 34,847 units. It was followed by Famicom Wars VS (Nintendo, Wii, 24,213 units), DS Bimoji Training (Nintendo, DS, 15,477), Link's Bowgun Training (Nintendo, Wii, 14,442), Taiko Drum Master DS Adventure on the 7 Islands (Namco Bandai, DS, 14,182), and Wii Sports (Nintendo, Wii, 10,206 units). Of these, only Famicom Wars was a new release.

Although there was a change in the top spot in software, hardware stayed in the same order for the week. PSP was once again in top with 70,536 units sold. Wii came in second at 41,572 units, followed by the DS Lite at 34,905 units. The Wii has officially topped the six million sold mark, Media Create noted in its sales totals for the week, mirroring a report from rival tracking firm Enterbrain last week.

Closing out the hardware chart this week were, as always, the PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360, with respective sales of 7,701, 7,022 and 1,474 units
