Question about un/installing channels

So I've been installing/deleting random channels, VC games etc and there's a blank spot or two on the main Wii screen where a deleted channel was - can these be removed? Do they automatically fill?

if you install a new channel, it will take the first available spot, or you can always move the existing channels by holding B and A at the same time.
