I used to be totally into the custom/homebrew psp scene, but have been totally clueless for the past year...

I want to install the new custom firmware 4.01, is there some sort of guide to installing cfw??

I have a 2.50FW PSP (My 1.5 broke :() Do I have to downgrade that to 1.50 and then upgrade to the custom FW??

If you can point me to any guides that will help me out, or if you can help me out it is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1st, upgrade to 2.80, downgrade using the 2.80 downgrader, it will get you to 1.50
then it goes like this
1.50 -> 3.52M33 (it comes with a patch, install the patch first) -> 3.52M33-4 -> 4.01M33 (I think it'll work from there, if not update to 3.90M33 and then 4.01)-> 1.50 kernel addon for 4.01 (1.50 update goes on the root of the memstick renamed as 150.PBP)

Everything you need to know is on the readme files

Update files can be found here

And the CFW updates on

I can't think you enough. I have a Phat PSP since release that went strait from 1.5 to custom firmware, but wanted to get a second slim PSP but have been lost on the whole pandora thing. That guide is one of the best written guides ever, thanks so much for linking it here.
