So I followed the ebay guide here:http://reviews.ebay.ca/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001236041

But thought I would get a second opinion, if anyone has a real one to compare with. Because my mem stick has both real and fake qualities.

So first I checked the UPC code and it matches the one in the guide and the packaging looks real according to the guide.

But when I put it in my PSP the storage capacity is 7727mb which is fake in the guide and my transfer speed is very slow for sure not 80mb/s.

Any help is appreciated thanks.

FAKE. The packaging just has little round melt-holes to hold it shut. It is very easy to open. My fake stick (4gb) was packaged the same way. Real packages are sealed with staple-shaped melts that run consistently along the whole edge.

My advice is to format it in FAT (aka FAT16) using your pc. That will help with the transfer speeds, but it won't be up to the same par as a true original. Windows XP doesn't have a FAT16 format option, but you can use the command prompt. Guides are available online.

EDIT: Here is the command prompt method. Assume that your memory stick appears on your pc as drive e. Type:

format e: /fs:FAT (then press enter)
