During E3 this year, the first look at BigBig Studios’ Pursuit Force left quite an impression on gaming journalists looking to spot a killer app for the PSP. It looked as if SCE Europe had a genuine gem in their hands. After all, leaping from car to car during 100 mph car chases is quite a concept—throw in gunplay, and you’re talking show-stopper! Unfortunately, mixed reviews reveal that this concept fell short in actual representation—at least, in the initial effort. Best to hold off on importing Pursuit Force stateside, unless you’ve already tackled GTA: LCS (be patient, it will come).

Critics’ takes:

Games Radar UK (80/100) - “Not even glaringly obvious graphical quirks can stop us loving this hi-octane gunfest.”
PALGN (70/100) - “Anyone who has [been] following the progress of Pursuit Force is likely to be a little disappointed by the outcome of the game… It seems BigBig have possibly attempted too much too quickly, and whilst they have achieved some of their goals, they’ve also failed on some fronts.”
EuroGamer (60/100) - ”[A] combination of a horrible driving experience and some tedious difficulty spikes drain all the fun out of it, and you’re left scowling about missed opportunities. Ah well.
