Graphics card manufacturer AMD is going to support EA Phenomic Studio's real-time strategy game Battleforge, Sega's sci-fi RTS Stormrise, and NHN Games' RPG Cloud 9 with DirectX 10.1, the latest application programming interface.
DirectX 10.1 allows graphics cards to take advantage of new graphical effects on computers that support it. While you will need Windows Vista to use DX 10.1, all of AMD's 3000 and 4800 series of cards are compliant with it. While DirectX 10.1 support is possible on Nvidia graphics cards, "Only AMD graphics offer top-to-bottom DirectX 10.1 support," read the public statement.
