Mame 94/97

Well after trying to check out a few games on the newest version of MAME I was really begining to wonder if it was any better or not. It's been a while since I've played but it just seemed...well...not that much better. Here's my small comparison using the Favo edition of each version. I loaded the exact same zips for both versions of the following games. I'm using the exact names so there's no confusion and they are pretty obvious names anyway.

Menu Return - 94 = Select+hold X / 97 - ????????
ckong 94 -minor sound issues but playable 97 - Sound Fixed Completely
ddragonu 94 - extremely slow (unplayable) 97 - Faster but still way too slow to play
dkongjr 94 - crash 97 - minor sound issues but playable
elevator both - extremely slow (unplayable)
frogger 94 - crash 97 - slow but playable with frame rate 5-9
mschamp 94 - crash 97 - plays well
mspacman both - plays well
phoenix both - extremely slow (unplayable)
timeplt both - very slow barely playable at a frame rate of 9

I think this small test shows that I was quite wrong about my initial assumption. There is definitle a great ammount of improvement in the 97 MAME.

hi, you can return to menu with this:
Press L+R+Start
Press R
Press X

(strangle but works xD )
