A friend of mine burned me a genesis emulator disk for my dreamcast called obsidian. The sound is terrible in all of the games that I play on it. All ROMS sound like they are nintendo games and others don't have sound at all.

In the roms menu there is a line on top that says sound. You can press a button to change the number next to "sound" to 1 or 0. Changing the number appears to have not effect on the ROMs' sound. There is also an option in the ROM menu that says mode, which can be changed between the numbers 1-4. Changing this doesn't seem to do anything either.

Does anybody know if there is a way to improve the sound quality in this emulator?

What you speak of is an illegal rip of the commercial Sega Smash Pack emulator. It is not allowed to be discussed here, thus...
