Honestly, it couldn't mount the tension more if it tried. Actually, it is trying isn't it? The scallywags. Anyway, at a press event yesterday, Nintendo refused to name a price and launch date for the sparkling DS handheld, but said all would finally be revealed at an early January press unveiling. Oh well. At least it did confirm it was definitely "on track" for a Q1 release. Which is comforting.[br]"I'm not going to disclose the two points you're all desperate to know - the UK price and release date," said a tight-lipped Nintendo UK boss David Yarnton, acknowledging the PSP rival as the reason behind the waylaying of information. "I can confirm, however, that we're on track for our Q1 release, and that the DS will launch with a host of great titles [Rayman DS!!!] most importantly, a competitive price." Which is also comforting.[br][br]At least we managed to get our grubby hands on an American edition of the DS, which we have to say, lives up to the hype rather impressively. Initial sales of the console in America also seem to be rather impressive too, with the manufacturer raising its annual profit and sales forecasts from 84billion Yen to 90billion Yen as a consequence. [br][br]However one analyst, speaking to the International Herald Tribune, warned: "This is the honeymoon period for the DS. Sony will take a significant and notable market share from Nintendo over the next 12 months."[br][br]We don't know which crystal ball he's been gazing into, but on the handheld score, let battle commence...
