Internet rumours are circulating that Nintendo's DS handheld will launch in the UK with a thoroughly acceptable £129.99 pricetag attached.[br]British games industry journal MCV is reporting that the touchscreen system will launch towards the end of March 2005 with a launch line up of 25 to 30 games.[br][br]The March release date has been common knowledge for a while, and the fact that the US and Japanese dates are so close (November 22 and December 2 respectively) means that there'll be plenty of games around for the UK launch.[br][br]It's the price that (almost) impresses: with the system retailing for $149.99 in the US (approximately £81) and 15,000 yen in Japan (about £76) we were expecting a retail price of around £150-200, given the usual European mark-ups. [br][br]Still, given those conversions from the US and Japanese prices it would seem that we're still getting a slightly raw deal, but we're used to it, eh?[br][br]For your £129.99 you'll get the system itself, an embedded copy of communication game PictoChat, and a demo of Metroid Prime Hunters.[br][br]MCV is quoting "sources close to the Japanese games giant". We've been in touch with Nintendo directly and are currently awaiting confirmation. We'll let you know as soon as we do.[br][br]If so, it's another early salvo from Nintendo in the upcoming DS versus PSP battle. Sony stunned everyone a couple of weeks ago by announcing its new handheld would launch in Japan on December 14 at 20,790 Yen (approximately £105 and $195), a whole lot less than anticipated. The UK and US pricepoints are yet to be announced.

we in the UK always seem to pay a high price for games and consoles

$150 is the price that the USA might be paying

most games and consoles are more expensive in europe than us and japan, and we are all ways the last to get them (some times not at all)...

That price is retarded.

You can order a DS from the states, WITH shipping included, for 100 pounds. Why they would release it with a price tag of 130 is beyond me.

At least we are getting the minish cap first :)

From what I have understood, there are some hardware simularities to the N64. I think it is just as if not more powerful than the nintendo 64.
