iRiver's "PSP killer" will sport an 800 x 480 pixel 26k color display, pack in 4 or 8GB of storage, and run Windows CE 5.0. Looks like it'll be on display at CES so we'll be sure to track this one down for ya.

it doesnt look that great to me and the screen is 16 bit, the psp 24 :), or is it really 26k and not 262k cause then it would suck quite a lot :p

oh wraggster. stop overreacting when you see a new console :P

i hate the iriver range of mp3 players anyway. and the idea of a psp killer would be the console that would blow its sales right out of the water. this thing wouldn't even put a dent in the ngages sales.

I'm definately partial to PSP, but maybe some competition for Sony is a good thing. I would love for someone to put fire under Sony's butt to get some nice firmware updates that don't just benefit the Sony Corp. (ie... security patches). I can't believe how limited the firmware for Sony is considering the power that the system boasts. I can't even read a text file unless I do it through homebrew. And the cost of memory for the PSP is absolutely atrocious. The cheapest I have seen 2 GB memory pro duo sticks is $140.00 w/out tax. That's only half of the memory this new iRiver device boasts. And the dead pixels in the PSP's LCD screen drive me nuts too. Don't get me wrong, I love the PSP, but Sony definately could have polished up the hardware and software before releasing it. Competition will force them to offer better prices and a better product.

lol whos expecting a fan of the console to have to purchase 4gb and / or 8gb products to save?! thats gana cost a chit load. not to mention how many battery packs ya would have to buy after running a screen that size lol oh yeah... and double the size = double the dead pixils ;)

does it even have wi-fi?

am i wrong or is that a car-racing game with 2d-sprite-enemys??? If it is so, i see no real future for this device :p .

Also Win 5.0 seems to be having many problems. At least on Dell's Axim series. Pocket PCs hang sometimes and as this device really uses win 5.o, i'm almost sure it will have problems  .

Those directional buttons seem hard to press when trying to move around like in an action/adventure game. The PSP's are closer together and are one piece of plastic, not 4 separate ones. Besides, I bet this won't support homebrew, intense 3D, or even multimedia like videos and music.

lolzords what would be the point of a windows liscence if it doesnt support multimedia and windows ce executables?

looks sexy. If it sported a hardrive and good battery life and managed to stay under $350. I might concider it. according to engadget or whatever it sports a 260k color screen... this is no psp killer (sony's crappy library of software is) this is just damn cool.
