Agito Final Fantasy XIII originally being developed as a cell phone game, is now coming to the PSP.
The game will be an online RPG, but not a MMORPG, we interpret this most likely to mean that you will not always be surrounded by other players online, and that it will more than likely use a "Monster Hunter"-like method of doing multiplayer.
Playing as students from the school of Akademeia, a magic campus in the world of Orience,the game will surround you in Agito's deep story which is said to be "massive" and still under development.
Agito will be released in Japan some time in 2009, North American and European release dates are TBA.
Battle System:

Final Fantasy Agito XIII will use an Attack Time Battle system, similar to the one used in Final Fantasy: Crisis Core.
Unlike Crisis core though, you will be fighting along side of multiple characters in real-time.
Agito will use a card-based battle system and will feature some sort of infrastructure support, it is unsure to what level though.
Summoning will be included and it is said to work similar to the summoning system in Final Fantasy X.

At Square Enix's DKΣ3713 private party, a trailer for FF Agito XIII was shown.
This private trailer showed off different kingdoms, one of which a militaristic nation had began to invade others.
Apparently, its march to war was unimpeded until it reached a lone island kingdom isolated from the rest of the continent, which appeared to be protected by a giant crystal. However, the crystal then shatters, leaving the kingdom defenseless.
The trailer mainly showed CG movies with quick flashes of gameplay video.
