Hello everyone,

I haven't been involved much in the PSP homebrew scene since the first year of it coming out, and shortly sold my PSP due to needing cash. I've recently decided to buy a PSP again, and now I have a Japanese PSP 1000 with 2.5 OFW. I've been reading on how to go about upgrading this to the latest M33 CFW.

From what I understand, I downgrade first to 1.5 using eLoader and Dark_Alex downgrader. After that, I am then free to upgrade to the latest M33 CFW (5.0 M33-6 I believe). Is that pretty much all? Will I need the Pandora battery or magic memory stick, considering I'm starting out only at 2.5 firmware, and the pandora+memory is for later ones or bricked systems if I am correct?

Should I upgrade to the latest M33? I mainly wish to play PSP, PS1, SNES, and Genesis games on my PSP, along with homebrew apps. Should I go with a more stable M33 version, or is 5.0 M33-6 pretty compatible now for what I want to do?

Thanks for the advice!

EDIT: Also, my friend has a Japanese PSP 1000KCW with 3.52 M33-4, can he upgrade that to the latest 5.0 M33-6 without needing a Pandora battery and magic memory stick since its already equipped with CFW?

Well it seams that you can figure out how to downgrade.
There have been many downgraders in after 2.5, use whatever one you feel comfortable with.

Pandora battery is for downgrading, so if you can get to 1.50 without it, which you can, you don't need it.

After you're on 1.50, you need to upgrade 3.52 m33 > 3.52 m33-4 > 5.00 m33 > 5.00 m33-6

Here is a pack that I put together with all the upgrade files you'll need.

Thanks a lot, that pretty much answered any questions I have for now. I really appreciate it :). Now to upgrade and customize my PSP how I like it.
