I was wondering is anyone working on Neo Geo or CPS1/2 emulation....

Neo Geo - if by that you mean the cartridge console, then no. Those games are HUGE!!! Too much for the PSP's memory.

CPS1/2 - Unknown at this time (but hopefully)

Neo Geo cartridges aren't that big.. the numbers you see on the carts are in bits not bytes so quite a few of them should be playable. IN fact in terms of filesize, they are the same size as the ones for MAME.

You get the general idea. In fact, there are only a handfull of roms that actually hit the 70mb mark. (Garou Mark of the Wolves, the late King of Figher series and Metal Slug 3 and later are the only ones that come to mind. Not sure about some of the later ones).

Even with the RAM limits, there are techniques that can be used to play larger ROMs such as Metal Slug. If you look at the GP2X's Neo Geo emulator which has 32mb of RAM after Linux it still can play Metal Slug. Look on the Wiki to see how the author manages to pull it off.

Sorry for the "averaging" comment but, you're right. The games that came to mind are the later ones.

You see, unless someone dismisses the idea that the entire game rom has to be loaded into RAM, all we'll end up with is an emulator that plays a few extra games over the NeoCD emulator.

Actually the Neo Geo CD collection is quite limited compared to the Cartridge/arcade collection.

With the GP2X emulator, if the ROM is tool large for memory, you can extract the graphics files out of the ROM (making it much smaller) and stream the graphics off the SD card. This technique made games that are around 40-50mb large playable.
