I am trying to get access to the 4 screws on the laser assembly unit, so that I can replace it. I am having trouble removing the outer UMD hatch which restricts access to these screws. It seem impossible to take off from either side , even by taking out the circuit boards inside the PSP. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I have taken the psp to bits and still havnt figured it out. There is a tiny slot at the rear of the PSP that would enable a pointed tool to potentially pop the hatch open with, but I have not tested this yet. This way could snap the plastic hinge of the lid potentially. Any further suggestions would be useful.

I would like a walk through I now have 2 1.5 psp's one with non workin laser for homebrew and the other for gaming - but it was a rather expensive solution - But I would love to have both at 100%
