I installed R4 firmware on my Simply, and I'm having problems running Moonshell on it.

I've downloaded the moonshell 1.71 from the R4 site. I renamed the file into _DS_MSHL.nds so it can be booted with the middle icon on the first menu.
But it doesn't load.

If I don't rename the file, but select it from the second menu (just like picking a game) it loads.

Anyway, please answer.. and if someone has any links for dowlnoading working Moonshell (hopefully with working soft reset) for M3 simply with R4 firmware, I would be vary grateful.

Cause this one except it doesn't boot if renamed into _DS_MSHL.nds, doesn't have a working soft reset.

While having Simply firmware, i had moonshell which had soft reset working.

also, does the moonshell 2 work on my card (simply with R4 firmware)?

edit: I installed it on my card. it works...
but I don't get it, is it supposed to start games from moonshell menu? cause I can list them, and there are icons for each game.
also, soft reset doesn't work once again :(

is moonshell 2 skinable?

btw I downloaded the latest version 2.00 beta 8.1

I think you can boot only homebrew apps and games.

To fix Reset to firmware, extract the attached R4TF.NDS file in the folder moonshl2\resetmse

pressing start and choosing exit to firmware works.

thank you! I will try that later.

I was out of the DS homebrew scene for about a full year. Any must-download homebrew games and applications I should put on my card?

Chocobo Joust is unfinished but I think this coder is right on here and deserves support.

If you haven't played Powder (a rouge-like) then you should.

If you haven't used the NeoGeo emulator then you ought to. Miraculous is a good word to describe it.

Alekmaul has many emulators but his Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe,Lunar Lander, Battlezone, but Tempest is too slow. Anyway if you like the original Asteroids Then find the roms and use this to play a very good emulation of it.

well you can get DSOrganize, allowing you to delete, create, move, and copy files; and it has support for different file types
and also JellyBlocks, if you're into puzzles

No, Moonshell2 is not skinable, to answer your question. Well, not yet, anyway. Perhaps when the "public" version is released. Right now, it's still in it's Beta form.
