Help please. psp system software upgrade

Hello,when I try to load a new game on to my psp 1003 my system version is 3.40.and it must be updated to 5.03.When I do this It it comes up with (DADADADA) Can anyone help me as Im way to old to figure this out on my own :confused:

Is it custom firmware? DADADADA is by DarK_AleX and it happens when you try to run a real Sony update, which might be the case.
