Im gonna get a psp tomorrow but i fear its too late to find one with at least 2.0 firmware...mabye its just me. Is there any way to know the firmware version of the psp by checking the box? I ask this because I succesfully got some emus to run on my brother's psp which we upgraded to 2.0 when he first brought it here. Either way Im gonna get a psp but I appreciate any help anyone can give me on this subject....GAME ON...

Yes, you can determine the firmware of the PSP by looking for a specific character on the box:

no letter = 1.5 (North-American release)
A = 1.5
B = 1.51
C = 1.52
D = 1.52
E = 1.52
F = 2.0
G = 2.01
H = 2.50

Here is a picture of were to look for the character on the PSP box:

Also, don't forget about mail order... Check the top page (http://www.dcemu.co.uk), there's a message right at the top about a retailer with 1.52 systems in stock. I personally prefer buying in person to mail order, but if that was the only choice to get a system that you could change to 1.50, then I'd do it.

From the top page:

SuccessHK have a mass of v1.52 PSP Consoles in both Ceramic White and Original Black which can be upgraded to v2.0 firmware to play 85% of all PSP Homebrew (via the eboot loader) and still be able to play the top games like GTA Liberty City Stories.
