TheFinalFighter is working on a Turrican remake (http://synthesis.netfast.org/turricands/) for our beloved dual screened funmachine.
Started in march, the project seems to evolve quite fast : the scrolling engine is working, and a map editor (based on opensource "Mappy") should be available to make our own maps!
Soory if it has already been announced, the forum's search function doesn't seem to work...
