hi !
everything is linked with your PSP version :
new versions (ie 3000) = no flash of the firmware possible (well it's not easy...).

unlike DS, there is no special chipset for PSP (well you have one, but it's expensive and not very easy to solder).

The only way is to "softmod" and reflash your bios in order to run hombrew (and ISO.... which is piracy !!).

Sony is aware of this and the new version is really more secured compare to PSP 1000 or 2000 (some models only...).

At the present time, the PSP 1000 or PSP 2000 are the best options for homebrew.

If your not strapped for cash, I would go for the PSP Slim (aka PSP 2000). It doesn't weigh a ton like the PSP 1000 and 97-98% of homebrew that works with the PSP 1000 works on the slim also.

There isn't much of the "PSP 1000 only" that hasn't been redone on the Slim or worth bothering with anyway :) (with the exception of a few Apps/Games)
