Monkey 64 Progress (Nintendo 64 Emulator WIP Update)

When you see an emulator being coded on from the ground up you realise that even the best coders can find it bloody hard work, remembering that N64 emulation on the PSP is a major task, yes its most likely that the PSP will run some games at a good playable speed eventually but you must realise that this is no overnight job, unlike a lot of the emulators and games on the PSP its not just a case of a quick port.

Anyway on PSmonkeys Site (http://nemo.dcemu.co.uk) today he posted a fun Easter Egg Hunt where you search the forum for screenshots and yes all the screenshots were found but two that stuck out for me were of Doom64 and Quest64, heres the screens:

As you can see the progress is great, the future bodes well for N64 Emulation on the PSP but to all those who have only recently discovered Emulation and Homebrew, Have more PATIENCE its a case of it will be done when its done.

I'm saying that Quest is the screen that looks the cleanest. The progress that is being made on this emulator is amazing in my opinion he is accomplishing much so fast. At this rate we will soon be able to play Quest. A 3D game can't wait for that guys :)!!!!!

PSmonkey I have a question. Please don't get offended by this because I'm sure you know much more about this than I do. But why are you going to keep the emulator in user mode I tried to find out on other threads why yoru doing this but I could not seem to find a straight foward answer. But wouldn't your emulator run faster in kernal mode. I just don't see how an emulator like this should run in user mode. But I trust your judgement I'm just wondering why.

pk maximum good point me i dont squat about programming or anything but i do know that kernal mode seems to be better than user mode and if anything maybe first run it on kernal mode first to get it up and running and then move it over to user mode and fine tweaking till it works well thats my opinon but you know more than me so probably got a good reason why lol

Ya I noticed that too i was wicked phyched when I saw that! Because if he gets Quest running and if that is the only game running at a playable rate I will still be thrilled as I love n64 so much and just about every game to it.
