Can anyone please tell me if the issue with the VC doing weird things with the video output is resolved yet?

As an example, my Wii is running 3.2EE [plus homebrew stuff] if I try to play Super Mario [from the NES] via the HD cable, the sound appears but no picture. Other VC games can crash or lockup when you try to load them.

I remember reading something about the way the Wii pushes the video signal down the HD cable and how my LCD interprets that. It seemed to be a fairly widespread issue affecting a lot of people.

I just wondered if this now resolved in 4.0EE/4.1 or if anyone is aware of a workaround other than having to change cables?

Really depends on your TV. Not all TVs display all resolutions over component. Mine does, but not all do and there's no fix from Nintendo for your TV's limitations.

Get a new TV or keep on swapping cables!
