Last time I checked, Fanjita was keeping a list of working homebrew on his website (used to be www.fanjita.org, but recently changed to <a href="noobz.eu" target="_blank">noobz.eu</a>).

Since his software is pretty much required to run the emulators on 2.50 anyway, you're probably safe relying on his list to determine what currently runs and what doesn't untill you're comforatble enough to try new software on your own.

I have a thread ment for that reason. its called, emulaters for the psp Whats good and Whats not Check it out if u want the best recommended emu for each FirmWare.
