nOOb question

I know that has probably been asked and answered a hundread times but I cannot find the answer.

I just purchased a PSP with 1.5 so I can play some of my favorite atari 2600 games (River Raid)

Anyway I also want to purchase some PSP games but I read that some of them will update the firmware to something newer. Is there a way to bypass the update firmware. The games I am looking at buying are older games Ridge Racer and Hot Shots golf.

Any help would be great.

Ridge Racer and Hot Shots Golf don't require firmware updates because the were both launch titles, but newer games do have firmware updates and you can ON SOME GAMES bypass the firmware updates using programs called UMD launchers, but only some games work with these programs so you should tell us what game it is before you buy it so we can tell you if it will run with these programs.
