So you're looking into WiFi for your PSP.
Great!
You've found a handy little gadget called PSP WiFi Max.
Great!
Right?
WRONG!!!
Stay Away from this piece of junk.
Why is it junk?
Well here is the scoop.
I recently bought the PSP WiFi Max and returned it the next day.
The PSP WiFi Max by Intec http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product.asp?c=US&cr=USD&cs=$&r=0&l=1&ProdID=711 is a USB Dongle that you plug into any USB socket on a PC or MAC with a Broadband connection. What this does, (or more appropriately what it is supposed to do), is that it creates a WiFi access point for your PSP, (there is also a DS version available, although truth be told, it's the same product exactly). While in theory this sounds great. It is as far from great as you can get.
Here is my experience;
I opened the PSP WiFi Max, excited to know that I would be able to go online with my PSP. The box proudly proclaims, "Enjoy your PSP online", while the instruction manual exclaims, "Most users will not even need to adjust the Dongle settings, just plug and play".
Trust me it's more like plug and pray.
After numerous attempts at configuring this useless piece of plastic, I managed to get online with a 54mbps connection. That is great, and ultimately what the product should do. However after disconnecting, I was not able to re-connect. the connection physically no longer existed. So back to the drawing board.
I reinstalled the software, reinstalled and updated the drivers. Adjusted the settings over and over again. Now out of about 25-30 times I was able to connect 4-5 times and about 2 times it was a great connection. The other 2-3 times I was able to connect, I managed to get a 11MBPS connection. This is not sufficient to browse the internet let alone play games online.
Also I should mention that when rebooting my PC, the software would have to be reinstalled 8 out of 10 times. The drivers would ALWAYS have to be reinstalled.
After a night of research and configuring/reinstalling, I decided to give it one last shot by calling Intec Technical Support. They had no idea what could be the issue and said they had never heard of this problem.
Well maybe it was just my experience right?

I could post a million of these and most of the problems stem from people being unable to obtain an IP address. This is generally, (but not limited to), those people running a firewall. However not all of the problems are IP related. In fact only about twice did I run into this problem.
The last problem I had was soemtimes the PSP could not even find the WiFi connection that had been there less than 30 seconds ago, with no changes made to the network.
I do not have problems with my PSP on a wireless network. I just have problems with my PSP with a junk like the Datel/Intec PSP WiFi Max.
