My R4i RTS Review
After reviewing lots of new style Slot 1 cards with update dongles and gadgets my review sample supplier
shop.01media.com (http://shop.01media.com) sent me a blast from my past an R4 card! ..Well not
just any old defunct one ....It's one of the NEW style R4i (DSi compatible) RTS (Real Time Save) SDHC cards :) ...
These new R4 cards are brought to us by the M3 TEAM who make the legendary M3 REAL/M3I ZERO and in the past
M3 Simply cards (This was the original R4's more expensive counterpart but essentially the same card as the R4 both
hardware and kernel loaders)
With the disbandment of the R4 Team due to the big 'N' stamping them into the past ...The M3 TEAM took over the R4
side of the two teams bringing out a range of SLOT 1 cards in the same style/design of that well known and loved
original R4 card ...but with new and updated hardware/features such as SDHC/DSi functionality and RTS!
This new version now also comes with Moonshell 2 as part of kernel files ..which is the multimedia player and backbone
of the M3 Real/Zero Sakura game and app loader
Anyway enough about the history and rant about the old R4 cards ...
Here's My review of the new one!...

Unboxing the R4 RTS It comes with a T-Flash Micro SD reader and a little plastic and rubber DS card case. (just like
the old R4 cards used to come with!)

no instructions or software are supplied so you must seek these out and download from either the cards website

There is really not a lot to do with the R4RTS loader kernel just download and unpack the archive and copy the entire
contents to your micro SD root folder (this is the first folder you see when you open your mem card in your computer!)

pretty much identical to the original R4 card

but with the addition of NDSi wording and the fact the front of the card is a sticker over the chip that bulges out slightly
instead of solid plastic that the original R4 was

OK so now on with the review ....
For this test I will be using my test kingston 1gb Micro sd with the 2.2 loader kernels from the link above ..
using my DSi with version 1.4 firmware ..
Note this card came already pre patched with a compatible 1.4 update which gives the Danny Phantom Urban Jungle
icon and header for it to load on 1.4 DSi firmware!
Games tested
Aliens In the Attic - result - WORKS (Turn off RTS if it does not load)
Assassins Creed II Discovery FAIL - does not work just black screens
Cooking Mama 3 Shop and Chop - result - WORKS
Imagine Detective Adventures - result - WORKS
Lego Rock Band - result - WORKS
Sonic and Mario Winter Games - result - WORKS
Applications/Homebrew Tested
Beup Live 0.5 - result - WORKS
Bunjaloo 0.7.5 - result - WORKS
GameUp v3 - result - WORKS
Lameboy 0.12 - result - WORKS
UApaint V110 - result - WORKS
NesDS result - WORKS
UsrCheatUp - result - WORKS (use the latest 2.7 version)
Loading games with the R4 RTS are no different from original R4 cards you find the game/nds file you wish to load and
press (A)
Tips: RTS (Real Time Save) and load is done by activating it when your choosing a game (see image below)

To make/load a RTS save during a game you need to press the L & R Shoulder buttons and the SELECT KEY (see
image below)

You can see from the image it also gives you instructions on how to turn your cheats on and off during a game.& how to
SOFT RESET your DS/DSL/DSi mid game!
One recently released game failed (Assassins Creed II) but it does fail on a couple of other cards too so you will have
to wait for a new kernel update or patch to get this game working on the R4 RTS but is a pretty minor thing when loads
of other games work fine!
I Tested moonshell 2 with some DPG and mp3 files and it works pretty much like the old moonshell but this is a bit more
advanced than the old version and more like M3's Sakura but without the ability to load roms and selection of files is
done by tapping and not sliding as in Sakura.
MY SCORES ON THE DOORS for the 8 out of 10 it could of been better compared to other cards out there the R4RTS
is limited in functions but then again that was the simplicity of the original R4 cards that made it so popular! :)
prices .... around £20,69 GBP(inc VAT) ($29,31USD TAX FREE) (€22,99 EU inc VAT) Other places may vary in
