ttdsi card question

hi all, I've just registered so this is my 1st post,hope someone can help me.
I've got a ttdsi cart for a mate's dsi but he's changed his mind and bought an ordinary ds.
two questions, will the cart work ok in a ds? - I assume it will but need re-assuring.
do I need different firmware to the v1.17 I've loaded onto the sd card?
the reason I'm asking is that I think I've got a faulty cart and the console doesn't see it.

on some consoles it may seem they are not working when they are, if you plug it in and get a Star Wars alliance game or Danny Phantom urban jungle THX just press on them then the main memu should appear, why these games appear i hear is that the Firmware/Kernal is correct but the Adpater is a Fake, that what ive been told, but not 100% sure.

I just installed kernal 1.34 on the R4i Platinum Cartridge and when i plug it into the Daughter DSi i get the Danny Phantom urban jungle THX game show, but press start, the R4i main menus then loads.
