View Full Version : Official PSP Mod Chip Resellers/Installers List

This list is similar to what I did this about two years ago for a company for TritonLabs Inc. (makers of Afterburner Light Kit for the GBA) on their forums. The list was a HUGE hit that it even got recognized in GamePRO magazine. Now, I bring it to all you PSP owners!

This list will consist of installers, resellers and sellers of pre-modified PSPs. This list will be updated regularly if needed and will be a work in progress. If a link is no longer working or if you have any helpful links or ideas, feel free to PM me.

If you are an installer or reseller and want to be on this list, feel free to contact me along with a link to your website (if available). WARNING: I will be doing checks to make sure you are legitimate thus preventing any fraudulent activities.

Regarding the firmware module by 0okm, once his is in production and available, this list will also host resellers and installers.

REVIEWS: Due to the complexity and costs of the modchip and installations, I will not be doing reviews for ALL installers/resellers. This is where the PSP community will have to step in and help. If you have ordered a modchip, pre-modified PSP or just an installation from anyone on the list, PLEASE post your experience in the Review: PSP Mod Chip Resellers/Installers (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=139411) thread, to inform all other PSP owners who plan on purchasing the mod chip and/or having it installed with your experience.

SHIPPING: When shipping items:

Use a box. No bubble envelope or cheap thin box.
Protect the PSP and/or chip using newspapers, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, anything to keep it from moving inside the box.
Purchase a tracking/delivery confirmation number. This is a MUST! This is your proof of shipment.
Insurance is optional but suggested.
Keep receipts or stubs from payments as this is also your proof of payment.
REMOVE GAMES, MEMORY STICKS AND OTHER ACCESSORIES FROM PSP. SEND ONLY PSP SYSTEM. Some places might request that you remove battery cover and battery, they really dont need them since they should have batteries on location. EMAIL installers for more information.

Cheer up! Virtual PC may bite balls, but it still gets the job done. Even if you were to go out and buy the newest version, it's right around $100 (US), so it's a relatively cheap solution as well.

But even failing that, don't you personally know anyone with a PC that you could use??? I'm outnumbered by PC users by at least 10-1, and most of them are happy to let me use their machines for the odd job here and there.

Besides, most PSP development tools come out in UNIX flavors as well, so I'm sure we'll see a 100% mac sollution before too long.

Are these guys reliable? I preordered from them because the chip was only $90 which was stupid. I was doing some research and alot of people had trouble with them and they sound like scammers. Plus the chip is not in stock unlike some of the other resellers. And they dont respond to emails, so im starting to worry if im getting ripped off.

They are well known. I havent personally purchased from them. Different people have different opinions on online retailers. If a online retailers cancels an order for no reason, or delays shipping or what not, buyers will bad mouth them. Thats how some people are. Same goes for ebay. Emails is the same. It can take days or even weeks before you get an email. Sometimes never. Personally, thats poor customer service but what can you do about it?

As for having chips in stock, it all depends on the distribution. Sometimes online retailers will take pre-orders and once they receive shipment, they start sending them out to buyers who preordered but at the same time, still have it listed as preorder because they dont have enough to sell to right away. If they list in stock, all orders will go to pre-orders before anyone else. This is normal business pratice and since I dont work for them, I dont know what their deal is. I'm just speaking on how online retailers in general work.

Not that I know of. If you do send, package it well and choose a shipping method that offers insurance and tracking. In the US, if you ship internationally, its best to ship with USPS Global Priority Mail. Theres tracking and you can purchase insurance and it gets to them sooner.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I have removed them from the list not because of what you have posted but also because they have not received any in stock ever since being released. If someone has ordered from them and has received them, please let me know and I will add them back onto the list.

Anyone know of any chicagoland installers? Modchipstore.com is crap and said after them having my psp for a month that they can not do it since they do not have any mochips, so they sent my psp back and cost me 30 dollars shipping.

Hi Bandit, its PyRo. You might remember me from those good old days at MD :)

I've decided to do the installation myself and see how it turns out. I was wondering if there were any reviews about Modchip-Store (UK) or Modchipstore (US)? The names and websites of these two are quite similar, so a bad review even on the US one will put me off using the UK one.

Hey PyRo.

Regarding modchipstore's, both are different. I did not hear anything about the UK store but the US one, I have heard a couple of things.

1. some UPs didnt come with some pieces (wires, chip, etc.). This is probably due to packaging and mistake on UPs part.
2. the US site is backed up on installation since it is tedious. So it may take longer then usual for installations.

I have also heard stories that since they are backed up, they have returned PSPs with buyer having to pay for shipping. Honestly, I dont know if these claims are true. They could just be some haters trying to make the stores lose customers.

That is also why I put up a review thread for those who have done business with any sites to post it but it seems no one has or wants to share their experience. If you have read anything, point those people to the review thread and let them know.

And by the way, nice work here on DCEmu. Just as I'd expect from you :)

Thanks. With the release of Devhook and the ability to emulate 2.71 firmware fully, there is no need for the modchip unless yours is bricked. Other then that, there is no reason to spend $100-200 on it. 0okm is supposedly releasing his firmware module and that is only about $50 plus cost of installation.

This thread is well old. However, still, the PSP Undiluted Platinum modchip? That's a long time since I heard that product be spoken about. Those where the days when the likes of the DMS4 modchip for PS2 was around. Also was great times for PSP homebrew! Sadly due to previous hack attacks from and a number of forum upgrades, many of our old downloads were lost a few years ago despite our best efforts to get them back from backups.
