3D is going mainstream big time, and while the first consumer-friendly 3D cameras (http://www.engadget.com/tag/fuji,w1) are not exactly taking the world by storm, Sony wants to be there when they do. According to a slide deck uncovered by LetsGoDigital, the company is working on a 3D flavor of its Alpha (http://www.engadget.com/tag/sony,alpha) line that will help to "grow market share" in this fledgling segment. Now if you're imagining a giant monstrosity (http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/20/panasonic-developing-1080p-twin-lens-p2-camcorder-for-native-3d/) of a machine with dual lenses (http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/24/fujifilm-finepix-real-3d-w1-slammed-in-early-review-company-res/) hanging off the front, take solace in knowing that Sony's HFC Comfort-3D (http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/01/sony-single-lens-240-fps-camera-is-great-for-3d-and-2d-sports/) movie camera (similar to the HDC-F950 used to film action sequences in Avatar) does 3D through a single port, meaning you won't necessarily have to go out and double your glass collection to use one of these. Beyond that it's all speculation for now -- wonderful, exciting speculation.Sony working on 3D Alpha DSLR cameras?
