installing FreeMcBoot

Hello, i'm new to console modding, aside from the NDS

I've got my hands on a SCPH-50001 DateCode: 3D

I've been told the best way is to install freemcboot to my memory card... but it requires ActionReplay or a modded ps2 to install this.

I dont know anyone with a modded ps2, and the only thing close to an AR that the stores around here sell, is a GameShark, and i've heard those dont work with freemcboot...

is there any other ways that dont require me to buy actionreplay/gameshark/swapmagic? I've seen tutorials on how to mod a ps2 slim, that only require a few pieces of tape and a sheet of toilet paper... i'd love to do this to my ps2 lol
