R4 card not working

Hello im new to this. I bought my girl friend a DS lite for x mass and was told to get a 8GB R4 card for it and down load games or "make back ups" on it.
I did this and done what it said on the web site and down loaded everything it said but it just come up with loading. So i moved all the games over to my laptop and cleared the card then done it all over again after looking on u tube and other sites to see if I have done anything wrong. I couldnt see anything wrong so I done it again but still nothing, just a loading screen.
could it be me, the card or the softwear im down loading.

i do not believe 8GB micro sd cards work on an R4 I think the highest you can use is 2GB

The discussion of downloading and running commercial backups of games is not allowed as per the forum rules. As mentioned, R4s only take 2GB and any R4 carts that say SDHC on them are usually fake (if they happen to not be totally the case).
