Im hoping this will help people considering preforming a
downgrade of their psps with firmware 2.5/2.6.

Could everyone who has had a successful downgrade, post the model number of their IC.

My one is IC6001, and I have had reports of numerous successful downgrades.

So use this thread to tell us what IC model can be downgraded, and which ones ended up as a paperweight.

Thanks in advance. Bullheads face.

Its in the top right corner of the umd drive(or 3/4 of the way accross in some other consoles. You have to look at it upside down to read it clearly. And you need a good bit of light.
With the PSPs that say the number 3/4 the way accross(from the right) half of the numbers are covered, so you have to look very carefully.

as long as u get the downgrader kit from psp-hacks.com and follow the readme which is very simple u'll be fine cuz gunntims0103 has an ic6001 and i believe he just downgraded

everyone that used the psp-hacks kit was successful if they had the right psp's that is...and the ic6001 is on left side of the umd drive right under where the open button is for ur umd drive(its under the umd drive towards the top of the psp)

Ive heard of a good bunch of IC6001s being downgraded.

Can people keep reporting in this thread the IC number of their motherboard in this thread, saying if your downgrade was successful.

It will help a lot of people I think.

I would like to make a poll, but I dont know all the different IC numbers to do it right...

What if mine has no number, originally 2.01?

Other people have said that its possible to upgrade to 2.6 then downgrade to 1.5.

If there is no number then I think that means that its an older version of motherboard (less security)

Can someone please confirm this.

I've poked around on my downgraded 2.5 (UK) - looks like it's an IC6001 too:

(Edit: And for what it's worth, I upgraded to 2.6 before running the downgrader.)

To confirm it is 100% possible to upgrade to 2.6 then downgrade to 1.5. I did this without seeing the markings on the motherboard, it was blank. (Originally 2.01)

I just saw this thread, and honestly how the heck are you supposed to see the number? When I open the umd drive it's right under the silver metal 'bottom'where you slip the umd in. Some people can see the number so clear..-sigh- do I have to open the bugger up? I need your guidance people :D ...help me. Cheers

ps Well with my now strained eyesight and smart deduction. (I deduced that a 3 wouldn't look like a 1 due to it's curved nature) i'm pretty sure it's a IC6001, does that mean my 'ugly duckling' 2.71 was set in the factory or are some 2.71's IC6001?

OK I have successfully downgraded another psp which was initiallay 2.01 with IC6001 motherboard.

From the feedback so far, I think it is safe to say that IC6001 can be downgraded with no problems.

I did however upgrade to 2.00 and then use the MPH downgrader to go back to 1.5 again, just to be sure, and it worked like a charm.
