so if any of you do not know.... qj.net has posted that a 1.5 - 1.0 downgrader will be released tomorrow if everything goes according to plan

now i dont know if this is true or not...

but if it is i would(and probably many others) like to know who will downgrade and who will stay at 1.5

so, start voting :)

How does 1.00 get custom firmwares?

from what i've read so far, sony put ABSOLUTELY NO SECURITY on eboots... so its speculated that custom firmware updates are possible by making an update eboot similar to sony's

Personally I plan on downgrading, and hope that something great comes, such as a custum firmware or an unlocked firmware,

Worse case to come, you can always upgrade back to 1.5.

Its an exciting time in the PSP scene and both offer unique options that will only lead to great homebrew and commercial game access. :D

Indeed! And to think, many months ago, most were skeptical about anything happening with the psp scene.

yeah i think 1.00 WILL be better because since it has no security at all someone might be able to make a custom firmware with the security of 1.00 and all the features of the latest firmware

if a 2.71 custom firmware that lets run homebrew with no security at all is released the modchip sells will drop like a mountain

yes, but some people have 2.7+ and unless that is cracked or able to be downgraded the modchip is still applicable and useful. Especially when it costs less than a new PSP.

Besides, a 2.6 and below user mostly wouldn't want to buy a mod chip if they can downgrade to 1.5 already...

For the time being, I'm staying a 1.50.

However, when (or if) DevHook is compatible with 1.00, I'm downgrading.

i dont think devhook and X-Flash and other apps will be a problem that are only coded for 1.5, all they would have to do is point the directories to where they are stored in 1.0 and maybe work out some other kinks in the process

plus, devhook is partially compatible to 1.0 right now anyways(hints the options that say "1.5 only")

I'm staying a 1.50 for now, but I'll definitely downgrade once things start working for 1.0; the possibility of a custom firmware is really interesting (I'd really like a layout similar to the Ir shell) and I'm sure homebrew (speed-wise)will go like the wind.
I'll have to wait and see.

This whole 1.5 to 1.0 downgrade reminds me of how a fake downgrader was released a while back. I'll stay at 1.5 until all the good homebrew works on 1.0.

I would personally downgrade to 1.00 because it has no security on it.

Is there any advantage of downgrading to 1.0 other than securtiy? In terms of homebrew, 1.5 was better than 2.0 becuase kernel was accessable. Is there anything in 1.0 that is unaccesable in 1.5 that makes homebrew run better on it other than stuff like custom fw?

Your battery will drain quicker on 1.0 because the CPU default is 300MHZ. For the moment my main Psp is on 1.5 firmware but being able to downgrade to 1.0 opens up great potential.

1.5. you the only thing 1.0 has on 1.5 is that it is more organized. but for thoes of you who dont know here is a tip.

__SCE__ and $__SCE__ at the BEGINING makes the $ folder invisable.. so you dont have to bother with all the extra ___'s at the end.

Ohh, that's cool. I thought that the % change only worked with %__SCE__. Guess theres more varieties out there. $ definitely looks better than %. But than i won't be able to use Ogranize, or can you?
