Hi everyone a friends giving me his old ps3 but the hardrives buggered, i know where i can get one locally but in the mean time could i use a usb pendrive as the main hardrive? just until i get a proper hardrive? cheers jamie

right ok, could someone please ty and maybe tell me the steps to do this? ive got like 3/4 pen drives? all formatted to fat32, [which is the correct format?] cheers jamie

oh, and another thing do i need an actual hardrive inside the ps3, becuase ive taken to mucked up hardrive out and then tried one of the usb pens but it just comes up with

"cannot start hard disk was not found!

Check on Amazon UK for SATA 2.5 inch notebook hard drives. You can find then at reasonable price like a 320GB one for £40 or 500GB for £64. Try formatting the hard drive first in the PS3 before doing so though.

cheers, im will be getting a sata 2.5 160gig in like 2/ weeks [hopefully |£40]

I just wanted to see if the idea of using a usb pendrive as the main hardrive would work in the mean time? jamie
