I wanna get started with XBox stuff, I just want to ask a few questions.

1. What is the best modchip for its price? Where could I get it?
2. What are the best emulators for:

-N64?
-SNES?
-NES?
-PS1?
-Atari 800?
Where could I get the emulators and how well do they run?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Just a couple more questions:

1. Let's say I installed the Evox faceboard. How would I copy my homebrew and emulators to it?

2. Can I put on more than one emulator or homebrew app on the HDD?

The best mod chip for its price is to actually soft mod your Xbox. It costs nothing except time reading up. Check here

The best emulators in my opinion are,

N64 = Surreal
Snes = xsnes9x
Nes = Fce ultra
Ps1 = Pcsx Xbox
Atari 800 = Atari xl

They all run full or nearly full speed.

You can find out more information here

Thanks for the stuff, I'm glad I just need to soft mod the XBox. So the soft modding thing is just a one time thing or do I need to redo the process every time to do homebrew?

Its just a one time thing and it will do as much as hard modding your xbox would.

Hmm, that's a good idea, thanks. I have a copy of Splinter Cell, but I'll need to get one of those memory cards.

By the way, how well does Surreal run? Could it play games like Perfect Dark or Goldeneye?

Haven't played an emulator on the Xbox in ages but as I recall it struggled a bit on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark but Mario 64, Waverace and so played fine.

Sounds good, thanks.

But I'm curious, how do you copy the homebrew to the HDD?

The best way to transfer your homebrew from pc to xbox is to use a program called Flashfxp. Once this is up and running its a case of dragging from your pc and dropping onto your xbox.

I think Filezilla is a better choice than FlashFXP, just as good and it is opensource. =)

Thanks for all the stuff guys :)

So far unfortunately the softmodding hasn't been working. I tried using an adapter to connect the USB drive to the XBox and I formatted it to XBox format. Then I tried using a hacked Action Replay program to copy the softmod program to the card, but it can't see the card. it also can't see the softmod for some reason. Does anyone have any experience in this? Thanks in advance.

I actually used my psp and a linux computer to softmod mine,I also had a little trouble getting the pc to recognize the card until I used the cat command.It's been awhile may have to go back and read up on it

I did some more stuff, and I have successfully softmodded my XBox. Now I'm off to test some homebrew :)

so for this you dont need a modchip for your x-box right?

That's correct, no mod chip. It required a bit of reading up on, but it was worth it.
