View Full Version : Right speaker does not work

New DS owner here,
My younger cousin got a DSi and gave me his DS-Lite. Granted he had beat the hell out of it over the last couple years so it was pretty rough but it did still work (at least turned on and seemed to work), so I bought a new shell, hinge and touch panel. While I was taking it apart i accidentally ripped the ribbon on the top LCD, so I replaced that as well. I soldered the speakers in the right place on the ribbon and turn it on and for some reason the right speaker has no sound at all. I desoldered the speakers and swapped them to make sure the speaker was not the cause and still no sound. I never thought to give it a good inspection before taking it apart, so I do not know if the speaker had not been working before, but he said it did so I would have to assume it has always worked until I took it apart. The new LCD has no tears in the ribbon, the solder has a good bead on the leads (yes the polarity is correct :) ) and the speakers both appear to be fully functional. The LCD ribbon is seated snugly in the socket. Is there any other things I should look for and/or steps I should try to get that speaker working. I would hate to chalk it up to a bad mainboard.

Thanks in advance
DJ
