Why are emulators so slow on the psp? Are there any GBA emulators that are regular speed, or at least close?

Actually mi friend theres a lot of great emulators for the psp.
NeoGeo (mvs)(mame)
NeoGeoCD
NEC/turbo graphic 16
NES
SNES
DGEN
RIN
ATARI 2600
The list goes on and on ZX has given us a lot of great emulators and he is trying his best to get us a fully working GBA emu. But there are a lot of great emus already for the PSP.

The newest snes9xtyl ver 0.4.2 (it's the newest, isn't it ?) using eloader097 still runs so slow.. Is there because I use PSP 2.0 and TIFF exploit.. Or the GTA exploits / Firm 1.5 can run it faster ? I am confused.. I don't think I can get GTA in my local game-shop.. Please enlighten me !
