Video_freak

you put the DEvhook and Devhook% forlders inside GAME (which is inside PSP) and you put the dh folder in the root of your memory stick

gunitchink

What can be run exactly with devhook ? Is it just another, improved launcher for UMDs ? To be able to use 2.71 UMDs on a 1.5 firmware ? Will I still be able to use my good old homebrew ? And still in kernel mode ? I dont have GTA: LCS, so I just want to knew before I run devhook :)

Yes to all of it. It also emulates up to the 2.7 firmware, so you can still have things like the web-browser and RSS feeds on a 1.5 PSP.

Hey guys!
I installed DevHook and I am very happy with it. Lately I installed a so called skin pack, including different Boot screens and so on. But I want to "design" my own. Does anybody knows a good program for that ? I am able to use photoshop properly, the problem is, I dont know the way how these boots work. I figured out, that it is a single file in the firmware. But which ? and how can I change it ? I wasn't able to get the right keywords for google (only lame "change your XP bootscreen and so on)

Please be so kind and help me :D

nowelskeee
August 11th, 2006, 20:46

[email protected]

Video_freak
August 11th, 2006, 20:52
i sent you the email but i forgot to give you instructions :o
you put the "dh" folder in the root of your memory stick, and you put the other two folders (something like "___SCE___US" and "___SCE___US%") in the GAME folder which is supposed to be in the PSP folder

nowelskeee
August 11th, 2006, 21:02
okei im downloading it ryt now.. does devhook also include WMA playback? if none, is there any app that plays such file?

nowelskeee
August 11th, 2006, 21:07
OH my god i dont have winrar either!

Video_freak
August 11th, 2006, 21:16
then get winrar or "unzip them all"
about wma, yes, devhook supports that because 2.6+ firmware has wma support ;)

nowelskeee

I guess the memorystick root is MP root?

When starting Devhook, he reboots and gives me the message "can't load /start devhook"

Lufinho
August 22nd, 2006, 17:59
Video_freak ??? ;-)

Video_freak
August 22nd, 2006, 18:02
MP_ROOT is a video for folders in that is placed inside the root of your memory stick.
If you can't load devhook, then it's because you don't have the firmware dumps. Give me your eMail and I can give you a link.

Video freak, pls help me with my PSP problem. I've done a lot of "googling" for this issue but got a lot of different answers. I noticed that you're the most helpful person in this site having helped a lot of newbies.

I just bought a used PSP for my son. It got the 1.5FW. My knowledge in the PSP world is up to playing homebrew games and playing emulated Super NES / Sega games. Knowledge I got from 1 week of "googling" the internet.

My problem is that my son wants to paly the newer games as well that is why I bought some ISO backed-up PSP games that can be played from the memory stick.

Pls, if you have time, send me some kind of a guide
on what emulators/etc. to use to play these ISO backed-up games in my son's PSP.

Thanks. Sorry for the long intro.

Still restraining myself before I install Devhook...

SO.. I still need the real thing 2.7+ firmware eboot and put it in.. and select the firmware.. and.. it would be emulated.. and.. I'm gonna get myself a new xmb with internet and flash games.. hmm..

Largo_W
August 28th, 2006, 18:26
The good thing is:
Your original firmware will not be altered. Its like the console emulators, just with the Firmware as a rom.

The bad thing is:
Not sure but the framerate seems to be under an needed limit sometimes (GTA: Liberty City Stories, Pursuit Force, Mega Man X Maverick Hunters).
But I am not sure if this is caused by the games or by devhook (esp. GTA)

Ok I have a question about DevHook
Ive been running it awhile to Emulate 2.71 and its been running great and now with custom fw. it's getting better

Ok my question's are

when i load the browser i get a message saying the content cannot be displayed is there anyway to get rid of that message?

also when i save a bookmark it doesnt show but when i go to the browser folder on my pc there all there.....

so does anyone know the answer to my problem any help would be appreciated :p

oh yea and my original firmware is 1.5 if you need 2 know ;p

Largo_W
August 30th, 2006, 09:27
maybe you could get away the "content cannot be displayed" when you set "about:blank" as your adress. then the browser should load a clear white page.

the other thigs:
no clue. havent used the browser until yet, im happy browsing with my palm ;)

Search Google for DevHook Ultimate installer. It will do all the files for you. All you have to do is sit back and relax. After installing I REALLY recommend running the installer again and installing return to stock. It is a small program which saves you from turn the PSP off to get back to 1.5.
