Intel has revealed a number of new products and features based on its Atom line of processors at this year’s Computex and outlined plans to expand in to new markets.
The ‘Pine Trail’ dual-core mobile processor was demonstrated running on the world’s thinnest laptop, supported by the ‘Canoe Lake’ platform, which Intel claims is 50 per cent thinner and runs at a lower temperature than any other chip platform.
The chip vendor has recently seen rising interest in its Atom mobile processors – originally designed for the netbook segment – which are to be introduced in to a number of new environments, including cars, smartphones, and smart TVs.
The vendor also revealed that its recently unveiled Atom-based System-on-Chip processors, codenamed ‘Tunnel Creek’ which include integrated graphics, have received a further 3,000 enquiries for non-PC designs, including fish finders and golf carts.
