Activision has made the claim that its balance sheet is “stronger than the US Treasury’s” at its E3 conference last night.
The publisher’s chief financial officer Thomas Tippl told investors: “We’re the only publisher that developers can count on for being around in the long term.
“Around $1.5bn was handed to shareholders in 2008. We have a stronger balance sheet than the US Treasury.”
The announcement was made ahead of Activision’s star-studded E3 party which featured appearances from music artists Eminem, Rihanna, Usher and more.
Other key points made at the investors conference included company expansion, plans for a pre-owned revenue strategy and details on the future of the Call of Duty franchise, Guitar Hero and World of Warcraft brands.
