The version of GTA you require has a brown UMD with a picture of a gun on it. The patched version is all black, and has no image.

If the game is patched, then you won't be able to run any homebrew anyways, so theres no chance of bricking your PSP from that.

need for speed? i don't think theres an exploit in that game, and as far as u brickin ur psp with the patched version of GTA:LCS u can't cuz without the unpatched version of GTA:LCS u can't access the eloader which is what runs the downgrading program which is what flashes ur psp, flashin ur psp is what can cause a brick to occur

ok if u want to test and see if u have the patched on or not just d/l the "super bock" eloader at www.fanjita.org get the windows auto-installer one, put it on ur psp, then run GTA and if the eloader screen comes up then u have the unpatched GTA

August 6th, 2006, 09:18
well just to let u know u have it backwards(in ur thread @ afterdawn), the patched version is the all black one and the unpatched one is brown witch the gun, i know cuz i have the brown one with the gun and i've had it since Dec., eloader should work with that UMD, therefore u can downgrade IF u don't have the TA-082 motherboard

then maybe you need to reinstall it? or maybe you put it on the setting that makes it go into gta. then you go to load new savedata or new game or whatever, and the eloader is there

s1k0
August 6th, 2006, 09:22
ok read all this. i dont have the new motherboard, i installed the eloader file and then went to my psp started GTA and loaded new file and all that happened was it brought me back to the orignal game from start.

are you sure you have 2.x firmware and that you installed eloader correctly?

BL4Z3D247
August 6th, 2006, 09:27
my advice is to get the auto-install version so all the files go to the right spot and the eloader will load automatically when u pop in GTA

August 6th, 2006, 09:29

Are you playing GTA: LCS without having to install anything special? You just put the game in and the game runs?

Then you know you have 2.0 or higher.

can i have someone send me GTA 2.0 files and i put them on my psp and just do that and plus people should now start to try to get around the patch because they barley sell any of the unpatched copies any more

That couldnt be true as I have the all black UMD with no picture on it and it isnt patched. I downgraded firmware to 1.5 yesterday using it, and used the eLoader prior to that with no problems.

edit: this (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/374048) seems to prove that the UMD picture doesnt prove anything... the only way to tell is to play it and see whether it has a 2.0 or a 2.6 firmware upgrade.

i figured out the problem the final thing is if you have the 2.6 updater its a patch and 2.0 isn't. so its all about guessing..

I have 2 GTA, 1 no patched and the other one patched. And the 2 GTA UMD and covers are exactly same. The only difference as the patched version have the 2.60 update version and the no patched version have the 2.00 update version. The images in the UMD´s are the same (the gun) and have the ULUS 10041 code. The eLoader work with the unpatched version (obviously). The images in the UMD and the covers no are signals of the patched or unpatched version. The only way to know if a UMD of GTA is patched or not is test the eLoader.

just get the full 2.5/2.6 - 1.5 downgrader and it installs the eloader for you and tells you step by step how to downgrade.

give me your email, i can send you the full installer ;)

From personal experience, the pictures on the back have nothing to do with the version.
I own a copy of the UMD case with the "Unpatched" pictures, but when I try to load eloader, it goes directly into a saved game.
Also, I have the brown UMD with the gun, but its patched, and its the US 10041.
So, like said before, the ONLY way that you can see which version before you try to load the eloader, is to check the UMD update on your PSP.
The Unpatched version will only have you update to 2.00, while the patched version wants you to update to 2.60
I checked this with an older copy of GTA: LCS from a friend, who purchased it when it was first released

Hopefully this clears up some headaches.

If it goes directly into the game, it's because you have chosen that setting. When you are in GTA, choose load new game in the start menu and you will see eLoader. ;)

I understand what you are saying, but I wasn't talking about when I load up GTA, I was talking about when I load the eLoader save data. The version of GTA i was using was the patched (2.6) GTA, it works perfectly with the unpatched GTA.

Thanks anyways though
