Good thread Gizmo...Here we go

-USA release date 1.50fw PSP(never upgraded)
-Flat black faceplate(same material as PSP back cover)
-Joypad mod(done by yours truly)
-Aqua clear face buttons(bought and installed by me)
-Prince of Persia "bloody" gameboot
-Custom GTA font
-Custom XMB Backgrounds

...and then I went and partially bricked it trying to change the XMB text...pfffttt...what a waste, I still curse that damn day.

After that my friend and me bought a 2.70fw PSP, but that one's still a virgin.

Well i orginaly bought my psp when they first came out in the US, I had worked really hard for it saving up for about 3 monthes (This was before i got a real job lol) before it came out and i finaly got it about 2 weeks after the release i was pretty lucky seeing as every psp in site for a month was bought up right away.and before i knew about homebrew for the psp i updated it to 1.52, Ya it sucked for the time being but it wasn't as long as 2.6 users who updated before knowing what they could do with their psp or accidentaly updating, and could not downgrade until recently. But when i did have my psp updated and could not do homebrew (Before the downgrader was released) There were very few quality games and i found for the first few monthes i could not downgrade, My psp just sat in my room in the same spot everyday with unlimited potential but because of the update was locked. So it sat there until the downgrader was released. My psp was finaly worth the money i bought it for, Thank God. lol

Then upgraded it to 2.00 and with the downgrader downgraded it back to 1.5,

Version spoof 13.37,-(To Prevent Accidental Update)

Disabled the Network Update,-(To prevent accidental Update) ,

Changed in XMB menu "Game" to "Code", In the XMB menu

Then i removed the waves in the XMB menu.-(I did this because i have Dev Hook(UMD Legal one) and it has the waves there and just wanted something different for the XMB menu.) ,

Then until recently i put Harleyg's .2 Custom Firmware on,

Well thats how my psp is customized and a little of my psp history showing how i got to where i'm at now. As of right now we all have the best of both worlds and better. Through the power of talented coders, Modders, and PSP users who support them and now and again can lend a helping hand. Only the future can tell how the "Homebrew vs $ony War" will end. Well thats it! lol

Ok, here we go, lol. I started with a 1.51 psp virgin, upgraded to 1.52, then, upgraded to the jap 2.00(coulnt wait, lol) then the downgrader came, I downgraded to 1.5, then I applied some new mods with xflash, i undid all the mods and had somehow corrupted my update function(loads the update, but always says corrupted data in the update).

now to the good stuff, Currently I have aa 1.50 psp with harleyg's custom firmware mod that auto boots devhook with the 2.71 firmware, both firmwares(my onboard 1.50, and the devhook 2.71) have the turok font installed (thru my own process) My 1.5 has a gameboot for bleach2, it has custom backgrounds for all months, a 1gig lexar memstick, a 128meg sony mem stick and the 32 mb sony mem stick. Thats about it. i also plan on getting a skin or faceplate replacement here someday soon.

Bought a 1.52 Eur and upgraded to 2.00, then downgraded to 1.50 (had fun for a while but homebrew was still in it's infancy); Upgraded to 2.60 to play some games and then downgraded back to 1.50 and started to mess things up :)
Used the first "proof of concept" by dark alex and: eliminated umd autoboot at the start and initial sony logo, set Irshell as OS by using the autoboot at the start, placed DevHook and A LOT of emu and games like good old quake.
Planning to buy a 4GB MS once price drops dramatically.

Well i can help you downgrade your psp and put the Harleygs .2 custom firmware on.The reason the custom firmware is so good is because it has a recovery mode in case of a brick you can recovery it. But otherwise the custom firmware looks just like 1.5 but with some nice features-Can load 1.0 eboots without patch,No curropt icons from 1.5 exploit, When you start up wlan down loads dev hook-2.71 and wlan up goes to the XMB menu (custom 1.5) But anyways i can help you downgrade as i've done it before with 2.6 BTW its really easy with the easy downgrader. And i have a good friend named Vettacrossx (You may have heard of him before) who helped me downgrade my cousins 2.6 psp. And has done it many times. If you read my banner i've helped many people with their psp and not one of the people i've helped ever bricked their psp. But it does all come down to whether or not you want to put the time into to doing it. So if your intrested let me know, i would be glade to help you out.

I'm telling you wont brick your psp. Especialy with me making sure you don't screw up. And if you do exactly as i say theres no chance of bricking your psp. lol Plus after your done you will enjoy your psp more. Now its not a the matter of you being worried of bricking your psp because on my watch you wont, But its the matter of do you want to put the time into getting it all set. Just think about the good things Faster emu's, New great features from custom firmware, Recovery mode pretty much makes your psp emortal from any software damage or Brick. And using dev hook to emulate 2.71 allowing you to play ever psp game on the market. After i was done and got dev hook all up and running i ran out and bought Tomb Raider Legend, and Daxter. Trust me it was worth the work. And not to mention i'll be there to supervise what your doing and make sure no mistakes accur. So think about it and tell me what you want to do.

lets put some bling bling to the psp

V3N0M
August 10th, 2006, 05:24
k Well there is one way for sure you can tell. Open your UMD slot on the psp and look through it from the back if there is gold bold letters on the top right back of the mother board then its a TA-082 but if there is none then it can be downgraded. And if your really worried about it post a pic so i can see.

What do you mean? Yes its in gold bold letters on the psp motherboard that you can see from the back of the UMD slot its on the top right corner of the psps back side of the mother board and no you don't have to take apart your psp to see it.

acn010
August 10th, 2006, 05:33
ha ha, o.
yeah the letters can be seen by opening the umd drive and can be seen on the right side and it can be seen perfectly.
if not shown, the old model has letters behind the metal thingy. this model can be downgraded the other not, sadly

Yet you mean. lol there is always hope when it comes to the psp. I don't know if there will ever be a downgrader but homebrew is just as likely to move on to new firmwares. But as of right now only time will tell. lol

their like ducks trying to get in the water but their too afraid to sink, but they wont.
some of them >.> <.< >.>

lol well trust me nobody is sinking with me watching over. People like gizmo are more than capable of doing it on their own but are nervous of what could happen ya know? Sometimes they just need someone who can make sure they don't mess up which on his own he probaly wouldn't in the first place but thats where i come in lol. I'm not saying jump into stuff you don't know that may be risky but learn about it until your sure you can do it without failing. Best place to start is to understand what it does, how it works, what are the positives what are the negatives what are the chances something could go wroung, what are the chances that it will go right. you need to take this all into accountability. And i have never helped people with stuff that i havn't first tried on my psp or am not 100% sure i can help them without the chance of bricking.

My PSP has these mods installed...

Harleyg's Custom Firmware .2

X-Flash mods: Black backgrounds, Custom Font "Digital", "Game" changed to "Apps", network icon "Disabled", "1337" Firmware, my update runner also was corrupted, but recently flashing a custom font, seemed to get rid of that.

One weird thing to note, is that the "Saved Data Utility" icons were removed from the XMB, when I flashed something. Wouldn't this normally brick a PSP?

I may aswell add what i have done to my psp's,

2.6 psp - all i've done to this is attatch some circular piece of metal with some pattern on it to the back of it, it fits perfectly over the part where it says PSP on the back and looks good too.

1.5 psp - has some Mortal Kombat Unchained stickers (covering the front and back of the psp) that came with this months pure psp mag, i havent done anything to my psp's flash, but have installed an invader zim font, all new month backgrounds, a boot sound that says "sega" and the prince of persia gameboot all on devhook.
