r4 card not working??

Hi, I'm new to this so sorry if I sound dumb! My sons micro sd card got broken in half so I ordered a new 4gb one. It came today, I've download the firmware kernal and tried to put a game on it and the ds is just freezing saying 'loading'. Any ideas what is wrong? Is it the ds itself or the card, or something I haven't done right? :confused:

Neither you just have not downloaded the correct firmware. I had the same problem but managed to resolve it.

You need to establish which R4 card have you got. I thought I had the real R4 card but mine said "R4 Upgrade Revolution etc" This is in fact a clone and a copy !! So need a slightly differently firmware. Once I established that mine R4 clone worked fine on the DS.

the clone and copy r4 cards are not very good, but some of them can use very well and it's cheap.
i am going to buy a clone one, somebody told me that clone is ok.
but i don't know why your r4 card could not be used. maybe you have downloaded a wrong firmware kernal.
