English Firware on Japanese PSP

I have a question guys that it concerns me about future firmware updates and is related to the future value of a Japanese PSP to a US user.

If you have a Japanese PSP do you need to upgrade to a Japanese firmware when it becomes available or will you be able to use the English firmware version as well?

IP address on the psp will it set automatically or will u have to do it manually
