"Monster House" - some graphical glitches (mostly in text), and a few problems with the sound, but the speed is seemingly perfect (except for an extended bit of initial loading). It's very much playable.

"Advance Wars" - sound very corrupted, but speed and graphics are pretty much perfect, even if the poor sound gives the impression that it's a little bit of a trudge.

"Sonic Advance" - perfect, bar a little (and I stress "little") problem with sound.

"The Sims" - (Japanese Release) - absolutely fine - just a little sound corruption, and if your Japanese is good, all the better!

"Broken Sword - The Shadow of the Templars" - sound a little poor, but the game itself runs very well. Probably better to use ScummVM (if you have the original copy of the PC version). Wonderful regardless.

"Grand Theft Auto Advance" - European Version crashes when attempting to load, with a straight Blue Screen of Death. U.S.A. Version crashes also, but with the GBA (bios) white screen then the B.S.O.D. Shame.

"Driv3r" / "Driver 3" - runs well, but you have to go straight through the menu screen without trying to pick other options or else it crashes. Tested it for ten or so minutes. A frameskip of "one" is perhaps needed to get it right".

If you want any more I can do my best.

^Doody.

I haven't had a chance to test yet, but will post results when I do.

Can I suggest that this list be formatted as follows:

1) Games that work flawlessly
2) Games the work with Sound Problems
3) Games that Crash
4) Games that don't work at all

In this way someone can look at the list and say, ok, this 15 games work perfect. Let me try those.

Thanks

Doom (U) - Runs very smooth, but graphics glitches makes it mostly unplayable, and crashed when i tried to open a door.

Donkey Kong Country (U) - Crashes once it loads.

Metroid: Zero Mission - Music and sound are stuttery/slow but gameplay is smooth as a baby's bottom! May tend to crash however....crashed after i got the morph ball :( test your own luck on this one :P

kando
August 21st, 2006, 05:18
0602 - Egg Mania (U) - white screen of death :( freezes

0547 - Duke Nukem Advance (U) - Same kind of graphics issues as Doom...unplayable w/out getting a headache...awfully slow too

1185 - Oddworld - Munch's Oddysee (U) - F L A W L E S S

0038 - Pitfall - The Mayan Adventure (U) - Another flawless game!

im keeping a wordpad file of all the postings on this thread...anyone want it? cuz i cant organize it or anything, just using it to find games that have already been tested :)

Advance Wars 1:

Runs kinda slow, tried many frameskips, sound is ok, no crashes so far. Playable

Metroid Fusion:

Runs great at frameskip 1, sound is great too. But crashes when you go on lifts, so kinda unplayable.

Metroid Zero Mission:

Also runs great at about FS 1, sound great. Crashes when you go into the "Samus" section of the menu, thats why it crashes when you pick up upgrades like the morph ball. Unplayable currently.

Great emu so far, except for a few crashing issues, seems to run most games almost full speed with sound. Sweetness!

0058 - Bomberman Tournament (U) - Seems to run fine, frameskip 1 or 2 for smooth play, no crashes reported atm.

1046 - Megaman & Bass (E) - Crashes while loading the Gameboy Advance logo (for some weird reason)...would assume (U) crashes too :(

0165 - Megaman Battle Network (U) - Freezes at title screen, with stuttering sound effects in the background.

1490 - Sonic Advance 3 (U) - recieve a "Failed to load gamepack..." message, crashes.

1418 - R-Type III (U) - almost flawless, runs great!

1485/86 Spongebob squarepants episodes vol 1/2 - no load :(

Ya I mean no disrespect what so ever to ZX-81 as he gave me hope that GBA emulation on the PSP would finally be possible. But this emulator was made from scratch and optomized specifically for the PSP's needs to run well. So basically this is just an over all choice, plus this emulator is only guarenteed to get better as I bet the source is very clean to work with for the PSP.

I dont think there is a need for a SNES EMU from scratch....the TYL one is pretty much perfect.... Except for:
Yoshi's Island
Star Fox
Donkey Kong Country 2 (play the level "Slime Climb" in Krem Cauldron)
anything else that uses the SUPER-FX chip

yes, many games work perfectly, but the first two are some of my favorite games (and are unplayable) (DKC2's water suface effects cause lag, which sucks in levels where the water surface is always present and changing)

To report another issue with a different game:

Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance

In an area up near the top right of the map, the Sky tunnels, there is a part where the screen goes completely black when you enter a certain screen. Naturally this makes it impossible to continue.

Whatever screen effect is used here is causing the black screen.

I first I thought it was intentional, you have to find night goggles to see in some areas. I found them and it made no differnce.

That secton you describe I got past. Whats happening is the water is rising.

The effect used causes the black screen, but if you wait, the water stops and the graphics appear again.

Of course, I don't know if anything was missed in between this.

I'm leaving the game on my card so when the next version of the emulator comes out I'll be able to check the black screen area straight away.

I also did a similar fix for all of the other buttons including the shoulder ones. Now I can do fireballs, dragon punches as well as use the Shoulder buttons in fighting games with no problem at all.

Minish cap works fine for me try again maybe some luck later or maybe its still not fully functional with 2.6 remember this is still 0.5 beta:)

Oh and guys if u clock up psp to 333 mhz with irshell most games work fullspeed without frameskip i just tried srw original gen 1 and 2,castlevania harmony of dissonance(no sound errors and fullspeed exactly like me in me gba) and minishcap (i dunnoe why but after receiving map it doesnt hang on me after clocking it)

Well maybe it this emu has its own clocking up system it wud be good:D

Oh and 1 last thing the glitchy after menu thingy in Harmony of dissonance sometimes doesnt go off press the map button(select button in game) and everythin will be fine

The emulator already runs at 333mhz, I read a thread in Maxconsole and a line of code in the emulator source clearly sets the CPU to 333mhz. Do you really think anyone would release a GBA emulator, one of the known highly CPU intensive portables to emulate at only 222mhz?

I doubt it. Also I think I remember the source code showing the GPU being clocked up to 166mhz as well but don't quote me on that one. If anything, IRShell will simply leave even less memory for the emulator to use as opposed to actually speeding it up in any way.

Yea most likely even less people than that, also doing that Mod will void tyour Psp warranty as well but my one has already run out anyway.

The problem with the Dpad is that it is simply too thin therefore unnecessary pressure is needed for it to make contact with the points, that Dpad fix just makes it slightly thicker thereby requiring less effort to press as well as fixing the diagonals problem.

Anyone know how to get the daily polarium mode working in Polarium Advance? I think it's a battery related issue. Judging by the tutorial the game is emulated perfectly.

Actually it's the same in VBA on windows. Maybe I just don't know how to play it.

Here's my updated results for Gpsp version 0.6:

Advance Wars - Now almost full speed at about FS 2, couple slowdowns, but no crashes, much improvement.

Castlevania Aria of Sorrow - Fullspeed at FS 0, may need FS 1 in some areas, small improvement.

Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls - About fullspeed at FS 2, no crashing, small improvement.

Golden Sun - Sadly, still crashes at random points for me, some people may have different results with different ROM dumps, crash is due to a "bus error".

Mario Kart - Runs fullspeed at FS 1, no crashing.

Metal Slug Advance - Runs pretty well at FS 1, but at FS 2, it's fullspeed. No crashing.

Metroid Fusion - No longer crashes on elevator sequences, fullspeed at FS 0, may need FS 1 in some areas.

Metroid Zero Mission - No longer crashes at status screen, so getting pickups is possible. About fullspeed at FS 1.

Pokemon Leafgreen - Runs great at FS 2, no longer crashes from some pokemon moves. Be sure to change the save size to 128k BEFORE you start the game, or reset the game after you change it, then you can save.

Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - No longer crashes at the map, fullspeed at FS 0, maybe 1 in some areas.

Wario Ware, inc. - No more random crashing for me, runs pretty well at FS 1, probably fullspeed at FS 2.

Great release so far, the only problem I had was that my old saves from 0.5 caused crashes for 0.6, so I had to delete them, not a big deal I guess.

Ok, I have played minish cap and made it past the map thanks to the new release, but yet again it seems a problem has arisen... You cannot cut grass with the sword, or pick it up, because the sprite does not dissapear, instead it acts as though the call to remove it from the map isnt functioning... just an unlimited supply of grass and etc.

So Minish cap,

No cutting with sword,
No picking up grass,
= stuck after map acquire anyway...

Um I just tried this emulator and I think its great..
Here's the games I got to work on the psp:
- Wario Ware: works but crashes randomly
- Super Puzzle fighter 2 turbo: It works but sound is choppy, and game kinda half crashes after a match(but if you wait a little, it sudenly springs back to life)
- Tetris Worlds: Works if you're very very patient. It looks like it won't work, but if you wait, it unfreezes. It happens all the time in the main menu, but ingme its perfect
- Colums Crown: Perfect
- Metal Slug Advance: Perfect
- Megaman Zero: Perfect
- Boulder Dash EX: Perfect
- River City Ransom EX: Perfect
- Megaman battle network 5: crashes after menu
- Oddworld: Munch's Oddesy: Works good
- Alien Hominid: Abolutely PERFECT!
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper: Works really good, but practically unplayable becasue the Dpad on the psp is too flat and the arrow keys to far apart, so you can't do special moves (well unless your vega, blanka or M.Bison).Has some sound issues

I hope my report was useful to you...

There is only one slight niggle to it and that is you can't exit the game and choose another without resetting the psp. If thats fixed then I'll love this emulator even more!!

Hi everyone,

To face the upcoming questions about what game will work with the new builds of gpSP, i have decided to create a regulary updated list of compatibility.:D

For now, i have tested 300 roms, with gpSP 0.6. These ares roms number 300 to 600 from the well known list of gba roms (actually the last is about number 2200, i think...).

The compatibility list is coming with a system of notation... see by yourself.

Next week will come a new addition of 300 roms (number 1 to 299):D .

Each time a new build of gpSP will be released, i will update the list, trying the previous non-working roms first;) .

Give me your opinion and if there is errors in the list, mail me at [email protected]. Please mail me only for the roms currently in the list, the others will come in the next weeks:cool: .

I must ask to the webmasters to allowed me to upload zip files, that contains of excel version of the list, please... it will be easier.

If you want to use the list and convert it into html for your website, please mail me. Thanks

now just a copy/past to see what information it contains

yes :the game is running
crash :crash with the well known blue screen "sorry but your psp has just crashed"
crash :screen freeze

sound : ooo=perfect ; oo=some scratch noises ; o= gives headaches

game : ooo=perfect ; oo=bugs but playable ; o=bugs and unplayable

frameskip = the configuration for the best gameplay/graphic/sound quality

Size (octet) - number - name Run Sound Game Frameskip commentary

Nice list thus far.

Any chance you might change the Sound or Game columns to use different characters in future versions?

For instance have the Sound use "ooo" and the Game one use "xxx" instead.

I was trying to parse the list a little from a command line and if those were changed it would be a lot easier.

Can we get that list in plain ol' text?

Unless the list is complete i don't think a text file will be released. Just because if i do, i think the list will be distributed over some website. That isn't the problem for me, but if they are modified, i will be difficult to know what is the updated one, and what game has now the correct information:confused:

so i prefer to release it with a protected exel file form... until my website is up !:D when it is, a full html version will be there (the list and my homebrew projects in fact). So wait and see ! i will post the adress when needed.

0104 - Tetris Worlds (U)- freezes after the "push start" to begin game.

0197 - Tetris Worlds (E) - this one wont even boot up.

0177 - Sponge Bob SquarePants - Revenge of the Flying Dutchman (UE). Works great. i think its perfect.

0256 - Tekken Advance (J) - seems to be at full speed (not sure) but sound is bad.

im about to test more now...

oops. im sorry guys, i made a slight mistake on my previous post...

the rom 0177 is actually SpongeBob SquarePants - SuperSponge (U)and it does work great.

the other one; 0592 - Sponge Bob SquarePants - Revenge of the Flying Dutchman (UE) also works great but the sound is not perfect.

also i tested

0658 - Virtua Tennis (U) works perfect.

0778 - Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper (E) unbeliveably perfect... for a minute i thought i was actually playing my GBA system.

1091 - F1 2002 (E) Works great, not sure about the sound, seems good to me.

1226 - Tony hawk's Underground (UE) excellent, but only sometimes the sound kinda delays or something, in the menu too the sound is not that good.

and...

2382 - FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 (UE) - It crashes after the second screen comes on.

I wanna thank everyone at DCEmu for all the hard work put into this great thing called homebrew specially now Exophase for this amazing work of art. Thank you all (now i can sell my GBA on ebay hehe) just kidding!!!

1013 - Donkey Kong Country (E) - Perfect

1055 - Donkey Kong Country (U) - Perfect

1700 - FIFA 2005 (UE) - Slow and sound not too good either

2158 - FIFA 06 (UE) - Loads but then crashes

Mario VS. Donkey Kong - perfect speed and sound with 0.7 alt version and FS=1 (until you reach the second mini-marios stage. As others reported they will not jump on the spring)

Out of genral curiousity, What causes something like that to occur? I assume it's similar to that Zelda issue about not being able to cut down trees?

Great stuff though either way. I'll just keep playing on my kids GBA till it gets fixed sometime. :)

1) alt or not?
2) which rom version (U),(E),(J)?

good to know before I put any more time into that one.

Don't know if this was working prior to 0.7 or not, but car battler joe (u) works with alt.
near perfect. frameskip 1 may help, but definitely playable without.

fire emblem: sacred stones (u)
and ogre tactics: knight of lodis (u) both appear to work on alt, playable without frameskip, knight of lodis can use some fs for sound, but how much varies on what scene you're in. have not tried on non-alt.

note, I haven't gotten far in either, just got through first fight and saved and been able to load the save.

For AW2, it just works that way, make sure you have a good version of it, for example I had a MODE7 version of it, so it was marked as [HI] because MODE7 adds intro screens. After the intro, it had a bad jump, and crashed. with a verified version [!] works perfectly.

Pokemon Leaf Green is confirmable working on gpSP-.7 alt with the minor issue of requiring increased frameskip required to make non-trainer battles not skippy.

Golden Sun is pretty much unplayable at the moment, it *runs* with frameskips of 1 or 2, but crashes whenever you try to access the inventory (again, on gpSP .7alt, don't know about standard)

Maybe it's just a bad rom, but the emulator keeps crashing to a blue screen that informs you of the details of the crash in Zelda Minish Cap on the 4th boss(In the droplet dungeon). As soon as you use the dungeon item, or have it out , it crashes. Anyone else have this problem?
